Typically, senior year for any high school student constitutes a period of relaxation compared to past years, specifically junior year. By now, students usually have completed standardized exams such as the ACT and SAT and colleges “do not look too much into senior year.” This in turn should results in less stress for those in their senior year, but is this the case for everyone?
“I don’t think senior year is harder than junior year because [during] junior year I had way more classes and balancing them was a lot harder,” said senior Yenni Giang.
“(Senior year) is harder for me because I was inclined to choose more AP classes and because of that I have a much larger workload. I find myself working on homework longer,” said senior Michael Douglas.
“In junior year, there was a lot more focus on studying for different subjects and tests like the ACT and SAT. In senior year, the difficulty shifts more to college apps,” said senior David Speckler.
“Yes, I think senior year is harder than junior year because I took easier classes last year. I got straight A’s and had almost no homework throughout the year. This year, I have homework every single day, so it’s a lot harder for me,” said senior Emily Fast.
“No, senior year is not harder than junior year. I’ve been at Fountain Valley High School for about three years now and I think I’m used to the system,” said senior Vinh Ngo.
“Now, I have more options and more freedom. It’s harder [for me] to [have] self-control and really buckle down to focus on schoolwork when there’s so many things I could be doing,” said senior Nick Lee.
