Prior to the annual Homecoming Assembly held today, the Associated Student Body (ASB) frantically worked to add their finishing touches.

Each assembly is led by ASB’s Assemblies Commissioners, which include sophomore Dustin Vu, senior Ken Sakata and senior Lexie Geltman. The three were in charge of producing and directing this year’s assembly, incorporating the fall sports captains and performances by color guard, drumline, dance and cheer teams. Once the script was finalized, they ensured that all footage and audio used in the assembly was perfect.

With Eva White, the Assistant Principal of Activities, overlooking the assembly instead of Josh Lamar, the Assistant Principal of Curriculum, students saw a fresh take on this year’s homecoming assembly. Unlike previous years, ASB did not use equipment for the assembly provided by the company Level Up.

“We’re going with a completely, new and different approach from what we normally do. Instead of using equipment from Level Up, a lot of [the equipment] will be provided from groups such as theatre and BBN, as always,” Sakata said.

In addition to ASB’s involvement in the assembly, Baron Broadcast News (BBN) pushed to finalize the homecoming court video with seniors Alex Tran and Jenny Do in charge. Tran and Do are the Assembly Producers of BBN and manage the “Assemblies Box,” which controls the projected screens. These screens project close up shots of performances and videos of the homecoming court. The two ensured that the technical side of the assembly such as audio, lighting and visuals were up and running.
