Barons on Homecoming 2017 October 19, 2017October 26, 2017 kaitlynngo By Kaitlyn Ngo, Staff Writer Barons kick off the year with one of the first dances, sharing their opinions on Homecoming 2017. “Overall, I think that the night was really fun. I thought I was cool how we could go on the boat ride and also dance in the venue. It was cool that we had a lot of options and that there were a lot of activities to do. I liked the venue a lot, I thought the entire waterfront was very pretty. The size of the venue really didn’t bother me, I had fun either way. As for the music, I feel that it was better at past dances but it was fine. In my opinion, I think I liked homecoming last year more but it was still a great night,” said senior Abbie Nelson. “This year was my first and last homecoming experience, I thought it was really fun to hang out with friends, taking pictures and eating together. It was a good night out to enjoy and let loose from school and all the stress. Overall I’d say it was an 11/10 experience and I would recommend everyone to go. I thought the venue was a bit small, but it was a good size. The music was okay, some were better. I liked that the DJ played a slow song, so that was one of the highlights,” said senior Vinh Ngo. “It was my first time at homecoming as a junior so I really really enjoyed it, I had a really good group, but for $90 dollars or $85 for the venue I felt like it wasn’t worth it. I also felt Jenga wasn’t a great idea because somebody in my group would stop dancing and jump every time it fell. The boat ride was really interesting, since it was different this year. I think some people had really high expectations for it, but I didn’t and actually enjoyed the ride. In my opinion, the music was really good this year and it was surprising that there was a fight at home coming. I also liked how there were some artists who were drawing cartoon characters of us during the wait for the boat. I thought that was really cute, it was also free. I overall had a really good experience, I would go again,” said junior Brigitte Cung. “I thought homecoming was really nice, I feel like it was better than most school dances because the venue was really pretty but I feel that it was very, very small so it was way too humid and way too crowded. I think maybe that if we did it again we should get a bigger venue. The boat ride wasn’t as exciting as people made it out to be except, I feel like the very last boat ride was good because after all the partying and dancing you would have the 40 minute boat ride to cool down, hang out, and talk with friends. The music was better than most school dances except, I don’t think it was up to par to what people expected, but it was better than usual. My favorite moment of the night was probably the unlimited buffet, the food was pretty good and dancing with my friends was fun, said senior Alvinh Tran. “Homecoming was pretty lit, but overall I enjoyed the night. I really liked the chocolate fountain, but the music wasn’t that good. Although they played some good songs, most weren’t very modern so it wasn’t the best. I also really liked the boat ride, it was very beautiful. It was a way for crowd control so I totally understand. My favorite part of the night was the buffet and food! I ate a lot of the chicken and sausages, but I didn’t get the chance to try the cookies. Even though I feel 80$ was a little much for the dance, it was a good night I’ll always remember,” said senior Betty Nguyen. “In my opinion, the night was fine overall. The venue was nice and the location was very beautiful. I enjoyed the dancing but the music could’ve been better because they played a lot of songs that people didn’t dance to. I think that they should provide more activities in the venue and no jenga! I liked playing foosball and spending time with friends. I did like the boat ride since it was something new,” said junior William Luong.
