With 2017 soon ending and 2018 rapidly approaching, here’s a look at some of the newest books coming out next year.
Everless by Sara Holland
Genre: Fantasy, Mystery
Jules Ember lives in a world where time is created out of money- where the rich heavily tax the poor so their life is extended centuries longer. A decade ago, Jules and her father were once servants to the Gerlings, a rich noble family. Due to an accident, both were forced to flee the family and their work, but now, Jules’s father is dying, and desperate for money, she returns to the Gerlings. The two sons of the family take notice of her, and she is thrown into a world of danger and temptation. History starts to unravel, and it’s up to her to make her decisions wisely- or it may put her and the fate of time itself in danger. Out Jan. 2.
Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson
Genre: Thriller, Fiction and Mystery
Ellingham Academy is a famous private school in Vermont created for the brightest thinkers, innovators, and artists, where learning is a game. But soon after the school opens, the founder’s wife and child were kidnapped and killed. The only clue to the murderer is the note left in place of the two, signed ‘Truly, Devious’. Stevie Bell enters Ellingham Academy with one goal: solve the mystery of one of the largest unsolved murders in America. But the past comes crawling out of the grave when the murderer returns, and someone is found dead at their hand. Out Jan. 16.
The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert

Alice has been on the road with her mother for 17 years, but when her grandmother, an author of a grim set of fairy tales called The Hinterland, dies mysteriously alone on her estate, the Hazel Wood, her mother is kidnapped. Alice is warned not to go to the Hazel Wood, but ends up with the help of Ellery Finch, a classmate who just so happens to be a superfan of the Hinterland, and may have ulterior motives to helping Alice. Journey along with the two as they dive into the mystery of the Hazel Wood. Out January 30.
The Academy by Katie Sise
Genre: Romance
Frankie Brooks knows what her plans are for the future: attend the elite American Fashion Academy in New York City, and become the world’s next greatest fashion editor. But they crumble when she can’t keep up with school and a blog, and her parents send her to a famed and feared military school, somewhere she definitely does not want to be. School is harder, no one understands her, and with a school wide competition she has to take part of, her life becomes miserable. As she begins to adjust to this new life and fall for someone, can she show that she may not just be the fashionista everyone thinks she is? Out May 22.
Nine by Zach Hines
Genre: Science Fiction
Julian lives in a world where each person gets nine lives, and every time you burn one, you recieve an upgrade of sorts. Everyone can’t wait to burn through them, but Julian is skeptical- his mother burned through her first eight within a few years and is now suffering with the consequences. When Julian finally burns through a life after being pressured by a suicidal club at school, he notices gaps within the rebirthing process that could explain what happened to his mother. Banding with others who don’t believe in burning, they set out to uncover the truth- a truth that could make everyone rethink everything. Out Aug. 7.
