May, also known as Get Caught Reading Month, has arrived and with it, is the transformation of the library into a magical, Harry Potter themed abode. In observance of the month, the library is hosting a scavenger hunt, and after completing a series of tasks, the winner receives a prize.
To start, you need a Marauder’s Map found on the left side of the entrance of the library, containing riddles, to follow on the back. Answer these riddles correctly, find the item near the answer and bring it to the front desk to complete the clue and repeat until all the boxes are completed. Then, answer the bonus question and task, and you can win a B4L sticker along with a mysterious prize.
Every inch of the library is decorated, from the front entrance to the graphic novels section. Wherever you turn, there will be an object recognizable from the movies- items such as Helga Hufflepuff’s Cup to The Monster Book of Monsters.
The whole purpose of Get Caught Reading Month is to draw more attention towards reading outside of class time. By having a fun Harry Potter theme, the whole set up draws reluctant readers in for prizes and some wizarding world fun.
Many of the artifacts are located on the circulation desk, along with some decorations on top of various shelves as well as a section with all the Harry Potter books and more decorations in the graphic novel or manga section of the library.
To get started on your journey, get caught reading in the graphic novel section by having your picture taken in the “Have you seen this wizard?” frame with some props to disguise yourself. Then, pick up the Marauder’s Map at the circulation desk and start hunting for answers to the clues.
There will be items to take to the front desk, and each item is placed near the answers to the riddles. Fill out the riddles to get your B4L sticker and answer the bonus riddles for a special limited prize. Happy hunting muggles!
