After a long day at school, many of us are tired and exhausted. The stress adds on as we see the stack of homework assignments that lie in front of us. Instead of procrastinating on those tasks, spare out an extra hour and try these tips.
Disconnect from social media
Social media is one of our greatest distractions. We can go on for hours and hours. To avoid being trapped in this endless cycle, you should log out of your social media accounts for a certain time period. Try to hold off thoughtless scrolling and save those for after your tasks are completed.
Listen to music
Music is one of this easiest ways to unwind and relax. Play some of your favorite tunes, as you sit and reflect about your day. Some of my favorite genres to listen to are R&B and Alternative Pop. Here’s a small playlist I made:
-
- Japanese Denim by Daniel Caesar
-
- Easily by Bruno Major
-
- The Rain by Oh Wonder
-
- Young Dumb & Broke by Khalid
- Instagram by DEAN (This is K-R&B)
Take a bath or shower
A quiet bath or shower can change your mood completely. A few studies have shown that it can even increase oxytocin levels that will reduce anxiety. Some people believe that cold showers will keep you more alert, however warm water relieve tensions and soothe your muscles.
Eat healthy snacks and drink tea
Healthy snacks will most likely keep you more energized and awake than downing a bag of chips. Sometimes your body is just a little tired because of your blood sugar levels drops from hunger. If you don’t want to eat dinner yet, here’s a few things to snack on:
-
- Nuts, like almonds and other tree nuts
-
- Fruits, dried fruits are great with a hint of sweetness
-
- Yogurt, you can make a yogurt parfait to jazz things up
-
- Veggies or pita chips with hummus, adds some crunch and savoriness
- Some energy boosting teas are green tea, oolong tea and white tea
Take care of your skin
As school speeds by everyday, we often times forget about our skin. All the dirt builds up and can clog pores, which causes acne. Taking care of your skin might seem like a long process and people tend to avoid doing it. You don’t have to wear makeup to clean your face! It’s honestly very easy, you can start off with washing your face with a facial cleanser suitable for your skin, then use a soothing toner and don’t forget to moisturize! After that you can put a face mask on, light up a candle and chill with your favorite music.
Remember Barons, the most important thing is to take care of yourself before diving into stressful study sessions and homework.
