By Monika Gerges, Staff Writer For the 2019-2020 school year, teachers started showing BBN during break in between second and third period every other Friday. This is how some students responded to the new addition.
“I feel like BBN break is fun because you get to see al these cool videos that students make. Sometimes, I’m really tired so it’s a struggle to stay awake during that time, and it takes away from my break time. But overall, I really like it even though this is only my first year going here,” said senior Jasmine Macklan. “I feel like BBN Break is too short. I’m on BBN and we don’t get to do as much for our segments; a lot of it gets cut short. We have to show the preview of what it actually is. In my class, atleast, a lot of people leave during the break anyway, or my teacher will show it during class and we do nothing during the break. So, I think maybe the break should be longer or we should go back to doing it in class,” said senior Bradley Cerethino. “I kind of liked it last year when BBN was in English class instead of taking break, except we didn’t have break. I liked it in freshman year when we had that,” said junior Connor Nicewarner. “I’m not a big fan of BBN Break, because it takes break. Last year my English teacher never played it, so I never got to see it. So, it’s better this year because I actually get to see it,” said sophomore Jocelyn Cramer. “I personally don’t like [BBN Break] because I liked it last year, how we watched it in English, because I think that’s what I looked forward to. This year I get why we do this, but I feel like we don’t have enough time to watch it,” said sophomore Kaho Cichon. “I feel like BBN break is different, and thinking back to my freshman year, that one was better for us. This one takes away a lot of our time and forces us to watch BBN. It’s just a waste of time,” said Sean Phan. “I think I enjoy BBN Break because it gives us time to see it, rather than sometimes when we run out of time in class, so that we don’t have enough time to watch the full episode. Having it during break, we get to watch the full thing and it forces everyone to watch it,” said junior Lucas Shis. “I think that we shouldn’t have BBN Break. That time that is being used for BBN Break can be used to do other things: like having break/nutrition. BBN elongates class time where we can’t do anything or relax,” said sophomore Katherine Cao. “I think that we should have our break because it’s dumb for us to have to give up our break to watch BBN when not all of us want to. Our breaks are used to go out and talk to friends. It’s our fifteen minutes, we don’t have much time, and I don’t want to stay in. I want to leave and get air,” said senior Katie Dinh.
