On Thursday, the varsity girls’ soccer team played against Laguna Beach High School, ending with a tie of 0-0.
The game was off to a fierce start, with the Barons controlling possession and dominating for the majority of the first half. With 21 minutes remaining in the first half, Laguna Beach was awarded a penalty kick but wasn’t able to gain an advantage.
For the rest of the game, the Breakers played well on defense and threatened the Barons’ goal a few times, but both sides failed to score a goal.
Defense and goalkeepers Jasmine Solorzano and Bianca Fernandez were key in keeping Fountain Valley toe-to-toe with Laguna Beach, preserving the shut-out.
