On Fri. March 13, the HBUHSD announced that all schools will be closed from March 16 to March 27 to counter the spread of COVID-19. The district also recommended for all students to stay at home and practice social distancing.
Although you shouldn’t leave your house, that doesn’t mean you can’t take advantage of this break and do something fun. Here are some ideas of what you can do to combat your boredom at home.
1. Take up a new hobby
If you’ve always wanted to paint but didn’t have the time, search up a Youtube video to help you get started! Youtube is a great way to get introduced to any new hobby.
2. Catch up on any late assignments
Even though no plans for online learning have been released yet, if you’re bored, take advantage of this free time to catch up on any assignments.
3. Read a book
A great way to entertain yourself is to read a new book. Instead of sitting in front of a screen all day, a book can help you unwind and relax your mind.
4. Watch a movie with your family
Tell your family to gather around and watch a movie to lighten the mood! Chances are, you’re all stressed about COVID-19, so this can really help alleviate that extra anxiety.
5. Contact friends or family
Just because you have to stay at home, that doesn’t mean you can’t have social interactions. Call a friend you haven’t seen in a while or FaceTime a relative you want to hear from.
6. Exercise
Don’t use coronavirus as an excuse to be unhealthy! Exercise to keep your immune system strong– whether it be walking around the house, trying yoga or doing workouts.
7. Focus on yourself and self-care
A break is the perfect time to fix your sleeping schedule and feel more rested. Take this time to focus on yourself. Try meditating, listening to music or having a spa day with bath bombs and a facemask.
8. Binge Netflix/your favorite shows
If you’ve fallen behind on your favorite series, now is the time to catch up or watch that show that you keep putting off.
9. Clean/redecorate your room
If you’re feeling bored, try cleaning up or redecorating your room. It can be boring staying at home in the same setting, so trying switching it up.
10. Share what you’re doing on Instagram or Twitter with #fvhschallenge
If you come up with anything else beyond this list, share it with the rest of FVHS using the hashtag.
11. Apply for Baron Banner
