With the completion of two COVID-19 vaccines and doses already distributed to a few million American citizens, concerns arise over the process. Here are some Barons’ thoughts on the COVID-19 vaccine.

“I have had vaccines for the usual stuff like the flu and T-dap. I would take the COVID vaccine because just like masks and social distancing, it’s a requirement for the safety of others and myself. My friend’s mother got the vaccine. She’s a health care worker at a hospital risking her life to help her patients. I’m very grateful for her and other healthcare workers that work relentlessly to fight COVID. I definitely think they should get more doses out. There are so many cases in California alone and the numbers just keep growing. Too many people aren’t taking steps to combat this and we need a solution to flattening the curve quickly,” sophomore Sydney Vo said.
“[I would] only if I am forced to be able to travel or go to school because I would rather take the risk of getting COVID over taking the risk to get vaccine side effects. I think that older people should be the first priority to get vaccinated. I think that there shouldn’t be people under the age of 60 getting the vaccine until every 60+ year old that chooses to get the vaccine gets it, with the exception of some people with underlying health conditions,” junior Jonathan D’Ambrosio said.
“I have taken vaccines in the past. I would take the vaccine. I haven’t been educated enough on the topic to say anything, but I think the doses are currently fine as it is because they are probably trying their best to mass produce the vaccines,” sophomore Kristen Lam said.
“I would definitely take the COVID vaccine right now if I could because it ensures my safety and more importantly the safety of all my friends and my family that I love with. It seems to be safe. There hasn’t been anything bad written about it yet so I don’t see why not. Who wouldn’t want to be more safe? It’s why we got vaccinated for the flu, smallpox, tetanus, etc. I don’t know anyone who has been vaccinated for COVID yet but my mom is a healthcare worker so she is going to be vaccinated soon. I think that it’s fine for right now as I feel like it should be slow so they know for sure that it is okay and safe and that only essential workers and healthcare workers and high risk people are the only ones who really need it right now,” senior Anton Nguyen said.
