Without a doubt, seniors have lost some precious memories and missed out on a final year of joyful activities. Here’s what some of them want the rest of their year to look like.

“I would like to see [performing arts] teams perform their shows virtually. This way everyone can enjoy the performances that they worked on in a safe way. I think this would be beneficial to students in the performing arts such as myself because it gives us a sense of normalcy amidst these uncertain times,” senior Eman Le said.
“I’m pretty sure a lot of students can agree with me that this year hasn’t been all that fun whatsoever. While it sucks we may not have graduation this year what’s really concerning is the freshmen who have to go through their first year online. Continuing on, I would like to see more sports or really just anything to do with the school that involves the students to come together and have fun. We’ve really lost that school spirit as part of this pandemic and I think that we really should try and bring back what makes us a school. That includes learning, activities, sports, etc with of course social distancing measures to try and keep everyone as safe as possible,” senior Anton Pham said.
“Well hopefully things continue to get better and there can be limited capacity in-person events. Maybe host events over multiple days where only a few students attend every day with the appropriate social distancing, masks, etc. The big thing would be something that doesn’t make graduation feel like nothing happened. Academics wise one of the biggest concerns would be AP tests… due to the distanced learning many classes have felt less effective than they would be. Hopefully, there will be some accommodations in that regard,” senior Aalam Thaha said.
“I want the rest of the school year to have some fun, whether it be a hyped event or assembly for all students. Maybe the school could host an assembly on the football field with masks and social distancing still enforced. Utilizing the football field would be a smart choice too because it is outdoors and large. I want some sort of my senior year to be fun and not just memorable because of corona. Knowing that I might miss prom and graduation on top of everything makes me upset, but hopefully, the school could plan for more things for students to enjoy or be a part of. I hope to see more performances from the arts center, have some events and spend my last year in high school looking back on amazing memories made at school again,” senior Jenny Nguyen said.
“Obviously I’m sure a lot of seniors including me would love to have dances again, senior night back in session and to walk our own graduation. However, just by the amount of time it’s taking to distribute the test runs of the vaccine, we most likely won’t have any of these events just for our own safety. To be honest, I’ve accepted this fact at this point and for now, I would be totally content with just graduating and seeing my friends graduate with me even in other cars,” senior Trinity Truong said.
“We’re all cooped up inside our homes right now and it’s getting tiring so I would really like to see something from our school like events or the sort. I know theatre is doing some shows from what I heard but I would like to see an effort to conduct events from all departments. It’d be really nice to just have fun like a normal school even if we’re all socially distant because all of us are just looking for a way to have a decent smile at this time. We’re all staying home inside all day so having just one or two sports events or more arts performances would do a lot to boost morale for us and the students involved with those arts,” senior Alton Tran said.
