This Monday, the Fountain Valley High School varsity and junior varsity badminton teams lost to the Marina High School Vikings with a score of 5-15.
Heading into the second year since the sport’s establishment at FVHS and its first full season, the teams faced equipment difficulties in this game with junior Khoi Mai breaking his racket while going in for a smash. Despite this setback, the team made a strong effort and managed to score wins in their doubles and singles matches.
“I think we faced some teamwork challenges compared to the other team,” Boys’ Captain junior Nathan Vu said, “We’ll definitely be working on that along with coordination and rotations.”
Standout players include Vu and juniors Christian Cao and Chau Tran.
