As the end of the year approaches, so do AP tests and finals, making it essential to study in order to end the year strong! If you are looking for a change of scenery from your bedroom, look no further. From the Huntington Beach Public Library to the Mugs, here are the top places near Fountain Valley High School (FVHS) to study for your exams.

Huntington Beach Central Library

The Huntington Beach Central Library is one of the most popular places to study, located less than 15 minutes away from FVHS and open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. most days. If you’re looking for a peaceful study spot, Huntington Beach Central Library is one of the best places. There are multiple different floors to explore and a private study room if you want to rent one out.

The environment in this library is peaceful and calming with a tree and fountain inside in one of the main studying areas. There are many desks to study, but the two main areas are the top and bottom floors. The top floor is less decorative and more simple while the bottom floor is larger, divided into small sections and contains the fountain and tree.

The library is also split into a children and teens/adult section. The children section offers an open view to the parking lot and trees and has a variety of interesting chairs to sit in, but can be louder since there are often many kids around. The teens/adult section is split into several sections with rows of desks throughout each floor that allow you to sit with friends or by yourself.

If you ever want to take a break and grab something to eat, the library also has a small cafeteria cart at the bottom floor where you can buy sandwiches, ramen, drinks and more. There is also a small art gallery near the teens section for you to walk around if you want to rest your eyes for a bit.

However, this library is well known and popular. It could be difficult to find empty tables or seats later in its peak hours.

FVHS library

If you are looking for a study place near FVHS, why not try the FVHS library?

The FVHS library offers a variety of services that make it appealing to students, such as printing services, numerous books on any topic and the FVHS Homework-and-Help with ready teachers and tutors to help with any subject.

Especially before school and during lunch, the library is crowded with many students and it is difficult to find seating or a quiet place; but, its benefits may outweigh this.

Starbucks

Just around the corner of Magnolia and Warner is Starbucks! It is within walking distance of FVHS for those who like walking. It is open from 4:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., making it a good place to get early morning studying in.

With plenty of delicious drinks from warm lattes to sugary Frappuccinos or light snacks like bacon egg sandwiches and overnight oats, Starbucks has just the right things for a quick energy boost.

Starbucks typically has several people in it most of the time, but studying in a cafe around people can actually make you more productive! The soft chatter and soft music offer white noise in contrast to the stark silence of your bedroom.

This Starbucks also has multiple amenities that make it an ideal studying place from comfortable chairs, free Wi-Fi and tables located inside and outside. The lovely coffee smell and lively atmosphere additionally add to its benefits. Oh, and did we mention coffee?

The Mugs

If you’re looking for an alternative to Starbucks there are a variety of other cafes in our area! One of these is The Mugs, located on Beach Blvd. in Westminster.

The Mugs serves a variety of drinks, ranging from non-caffeine options like Taro Lattes, to fun twists on coffee, like their Strawberry Cream Latte! If you happen to get hungry while you’re studying, you can also order pastries and baked goods like danishes and croffles.

Ordering at The Mugs is easy with their touch screen kiosk, and food and drinks are made quickly for your studying convenience.

The Mugs offers plenty of space to study, with free wi-fi as well. The calm atmosphere makes it a great place to study, especially with friends. In addition you also have the option of studying outside as well.

The Coffee Tale

Another great study place is The Coffee Tale, located in the Old World Village in Huntington Beach.

The cafe has an old European style to match the rest of the old world village, providing a unique environment to study. There are plenty of tables to choose from, and outdoor seating if you would prefer that.

If you are craving any drinks or snacks while studying, there are variety of coffee options such as their organic Turkish coffee, Lavender Lattes, blueberry matcha and more! They also serve snacks such a cheesecake and baklava.

The influx of tests at the end of the year can be overwhelming, but with an organized schedule and a good study spot, it can be manageable! Good luck on your finals Barons!
