Located in Fountain Valley, this cafe features a minimalistic and bohemian style of decoration and greenery, creating an aesthetically pleasing, yet welcoming environment. With its ever-changing menu, there is a wide variety of carefully curated drinks and eats that guarantee quality at an affordable price.
Here are reviews for four of the most popular drinks at Long Black Coffee.
Iced Cookie Butter Latte | $5.75
This splendid drink sure lives up to its name, as it tastes like the literal definition of a freshly baked cinnamon cookie. When the cookie butter at the bottom of the drink is mixed into the latte, the drink becomes a splendid balance of creaminess and notes of brown sugar. I’d imagine if this was served hot, the cookie butter would melt seamlessly into the coffee, flavoring every sip.
As someone without a sweet tooth, I was initially hesitant to try this drink because I was expecting it to be overly sweet. However, I’m happy to say that this combination of buttery goodness and the lightly-sweetened latte was a perfect pairing, leaving me wanting more.
Iced Einspänner Latte | $5.50
The first thing that stuck out to me when I saw this drink was its beauty. Unlike other cream toppings offered at typical cafes, hazelnut cream is especially unique and honestly, pretty life-changing. Not only does it taste amazing with the short latte, but it is a whole other experience when it comes to matcha.
While the aesthetic of this drink pulled me in initially, the one-of-a-kind flavor that this short latte and hazelnut cream combination offers left me at a loss for words. From the first sip to the last, the contrasting flavors from the short latte base and the sweetness of the hazelnut cream make for an ideal not-too-sweet drink that is sure to leave an impact on your day.
Iced Matcha Einspänner | $5.95
As a frequent matcha latte enjoyer, I was expecting this drink to be good, but not as unique and impacting as it ended up being. The concept of the hazelnut cream on top of the matcha wasn’t too appealing to me, as it was unlike anything I had tried before. However, the combination of the two definitely surprised me in a good way and I would definitely order this again.
Because the matcha latte base isn’t overwhelmingly sweet, the hazelnut cream on top elevates and highlights the matcha flavor in the best way, without overpowering it. The thick cream and the thin matcha latte go hand in hand together, mixing together seamlessly into a perfectly balanced delicious drink.
Iced Madagascar Vanilla Latte | $4.95
Although I would say I’m not a usual coffee drinker, I would definitely reorder this simple, yet splendid latte. Compared to typical chain-store cafes, Long Black Coffee’s Madagascar Vanilla Latte stands out as it has a very profound and rich taste.
While this description may scare people who aren’t too fond of strong coffee-lasting flavors, do not fret! This latte is very drinkable on a daily, as the lightness and creaminess of this drink keep it simple. Another bonus of this drink is that it doesn’t leave that gross aftertaste on your tongue that typical vanilla lattes might do.
From its welcoming environment to its wide variety of drinks, Long Black Coffee is sure to leave a lasting impact on your day, in the same way it did on mine. So the next time you want to try out a new unique drink, stop by Long Black Coffee and order these seasonal delights fast before they leave the menu!
