What is your go-to ice cream flavor? Is it matcha or ube? Vanilla or chocolate?
Well, your favorite flavor might just correspond to your personality. The choice you make upon walking into an ice cream shop may reflect your approach to life, your habits or even personal qualities.
To find out more about this phenomenon, we found teachers who all loved cookies and cream— seen as it is one of the most popular flavors, especially among teachers at Fountain Valley High School as well— to see if there is a correlation between their personalities.
Describing the personalities of cookies and cream lovers, Kitchn said, “You’re smooth and personable with a sense of humor. You don’t take much seriously, but love to learn and grow with whatever you’re doing at the moment. You’re not one for following trends, but you always seem cool no matter the circumstance.”
Funnily enough, this description accurately matches the characteristics of Math teacher Brandon Nguyen, who has a taste for cookies and cream.
“My personality? I’m very free spirited, funny… amazing,” Nguyen said.
Nguyen is the perfect example for how your favorite ice cream flavor reflects who you are. Even sophomore Dasani Pham described his personality as cookies and cream. This further proves a connection between your flavor palette and personality.
As his students typically describe him, Nguyen is as silly and energetic, constantly implementing humor into his lessons to make them more entertaining.
“[Nguyen is] super sweet and very sassy,” Pham said.
Unlike other cookies and cream lovers, Spanish teacher Jim Diecidue describes himself as an introvert. Known to interact with students on a personal level, Diecidue prioritizes student-teacher relationships above all else and never fails to make students feel at ease.
“He’s very extroverted,” freshman Lily Huynh said. “He tries to make the student participate and feel more connected, and I can tell that he cares a lot about the students.”
Diecidue loves cookies and cream for its versatility, being able to go well with many desserts like chocolate chip cookies and brownies. And perhaps, it is it’s compatibility with others that correlates with his kindness and easygoing personality.
Science teacher Deborah Brown is another enjoyer of cookies and cream. Similar to the other teachers who like cookies and cream, she is also enthusiastic .
“My personality is very energetic [and] positive,” Brown said.
“She’s fun and she makes class interesting,” freshman Chloe Phan said,
It seems that energy from cookies and cream carries on to the personalities of the people who enjoy it as well. The subtle crunch of a cookie and delightful creaminess of the ice cream is bound to create a deliciously sweet flavor, which is also present in the teachers through their sweet and energetic personalities.
In a way, you are what you eat. Your foods, even favorite ice cream flavors, could potentially lead to further insight about who you truly are. Perhaps it is the simple choice between keeping to your usual and trying a new flavor that really reveals your inner qualities. Or a preference for a more adventurous palette, with bold and unique flavors rather than traditional ones.
So ask someone you know about their favorite ice cream, maybe it will let you know a little more about who they are.
