If you have ever watched the Vampire Diaries before, you know what doppelgängers are: Elena Gilbert and Katerina Petrova, Stefan Salvatore and Tom Avery, among the many other pairs. For those who missed out on the addicting eight-season show, doppelgängers are two people who have an uncanny resemblance to one another. And they don’t just present themselves behind the television screen, they exist in real life. Though perhaps not on the same level of similarity.
We set out to find the doppelgängers of Fountain Valley High School (FVHS) through a survey. Here are a few students that have been selected by their peers:
Junior Kayla Nguyen and senior Allyson Le have been lookalikes for their whole lives, but their similarities go beyond their physical features. They’ve both been swimming their whole lives. Once in high school, Nguyen and Le found interests in the same clubs which include ASB, Red Cross, Girl’s League and Swim.
Sophomores Audrey Thompson and Leah Johnson are almost the complete opposite. Johnson is on the dance team while Thompson surfs. Johnson’s favorite color is blue while Thompson’s favorite color is pink. Nonetheless, they think that they look alike. And the rest of us do too.
Both on the FVHS softball team, sophomore Rylee Jiminez and senior Danica Jiminez have shared interest in athletics. Rylee Jimenez also enjoys playing field hockey and swimming. Both girls sometimes allow the confusion to linger by saying that they are twins or providing the wrong name to their peers.
Freshman Paige Dinh and sophomore Suri Le are completely different when it comes to hobbies and interests, but almost identical when it comes to looks. While Le is in MUN, Robotics and Girls Who Code, Dinh is a member of FVHS’s volleyball team and enjoys crocheting. Although they get mixed up very often, Le and Dinh don’t think they look alike, unlike the rest of us.
There you have it: Fountain Valley’s very own doppelgängers. These pairs across all grade levels share both similarities and differences. We hope you enjoyed looking through the faces of FVHS with us. Feel free to share any doppelgängers you find around campus with us!
