When it comes to the argument between iPhone and Android, I will always choose Apple. Now, Android users, before you get angry, hear me out. I’m not saying that iPhones are perfect. But the truth is, the average Apple user’s experience is unmatched, and this is coming from a previous Android user, who was peer pressured into buying an Apple product.
The average Android user will never experience bumping their phones with another to share contact information or tweeting “Twitter for Phone.” Everyone knows that an Android file transfer can’t compete with Apple’s airdrop. Sure, the Android has a flawless customization setting. But, most of us just want practical, easy-to-use phones that do not require an engineering degree to operate.
When the former founder of Apple Steve Jobs said he was going to burn Android to the ground, was he right?
“I’m going to destroy Android because it’s a stolen product,” Jobs said.
Popularity
In the United States (US), the iPhone has a 58.81% market share, in contrast to Android’s 40.81%. However, on a global level, Android controls the mobile market.
In a study done in the US, Bloomberg found that 79% of 1,000 members of Gen Z preferred using Apple over Android. The iPhone is user-friendly, emphasizing minimalistic application, making it more accessible to a wide range of users.
Frankly, Apple is so popular in the US because it is a status symbol. Taylor Swift, your neighbor and your classmates have an iPhone. Everyone has one, except you. Even the green bubble in iMessages amplifies the fact that you don’t have an iPhone.
“As Apple’s brand loyalty is so strong and this population continues to age, [Bloomberg expects] that Apple will likely continue to accrue more market share in the region — and likely, greater adoption around the globe,” Senior Technology Analyst Anurag Rana said.
Ecosystem advantage
Apple designed a thriving habitat of Apple products that can allow users to move between devices, like starting a document on your iPhone and editing it on your MacBook. Aside from their technology, they have a great streaming service and a reliable digital wallet.
Unlike Android brands, which exclude other brands by being a closed-off system, creating an issue for users looking for an interchangeable system. For instance, the Google Pixel watch can only sync with Google Pixel phones.
Ultimately, Androids and Apple offer unique features that align with different consumer preferences. After weighing the various factors that best cater to my needs, I decided that Apple is the best for me. However, there is a perfect match for you, whether you prioritize a user-friendly experience or a personalized database.
