Senior Tyler Peshke has announced his verbal commitment to New Mexico State University, where he will play Division I baseball. An all-around powerhouse and utility player, Peshke’s personal motto of hard work has taken him to where he is today.
“[I try] and play the game the right way, play it hard. I think it’s in God’s hands, and he has the right plan for me,” Peshke said.
Peshke started playing baseball on the Fountain Valley Pony Team at the age of six and quickly fell in love with the sport.
As he grew, his love for baseball grew with him. While playing first base, third base and pitching for Fountain Valley High School, Peshke also emphasizes the importance of the mental side of baseball.
“I mean being a hitter … learning from your [failures] is huge, just like in any sport but baseball [specifically], where there is so much failure, you have to learn how to better yourself from it instead of just letting it break you down,” Peshke said.
This exact mindset helped Peshke receive offers from prestigious teams such as California State Northridge, Pepperdine and others. Drawing inspiration from his favorite Major League Baseball player, Derek Jeter, Peshke is excited to begin his journey with the New Mexico State team.
“They develop hitters really well and that’s what I want. I want to do it at the next level, after college … I just think it’s the right spot for me,” Peshke said.
Moving forward, Peshke plans to major in business at New Mexico and continue to give baseball his ‘all.’
“The important thing is just trusting what work I put in, like behind the scenes,” Peshke said. “I guess, not really trying to think when the time’s there, just kind of pretend like I’m back, six years old again, playing the game fun and letting the work that I did just happen.”
