I want to nap so bad, but I still have so much homework! But, if I nap right now I won’t be able to sleep at night and have no sanity for school tomorrow. School makes me so exhausted every day that I only look forward to a nap whenever I go home.
So what is the proper way to nap? How do I get to rest and still have enough time to work and be an academic weapon?
A power nap is the perfect solution to your problems. It meets both of the two requirements at the same time: nap and power. But some of us get even more tired after taking a nap so let’s solve this problem by diving deep into the story behind the magic nap that could provide you with surprising energy!
What is a power nap?
According to Cleveland Clinic, a power nap is a short sleep that normally lasts 10 to 30 minutes to give you the alertness and energy you would typically get from a 1-hour nap or even longer. Yes! You didn’t get it wrong. You do less work with less effort but still receive the same benefits and success. By taking this short sleep, you won’t enter deep sleep stages and risk waking up even more tired than before. Instead, a power nap will improve your mood and increase productivity for the rest of the day.
How to take your power nap in the right way
- Make sure to set your alarm for 20 or 30 minutes to wake up after and remember.
- Do not click “Snooze” otherwise you will ruin the entire game. You need discipline in order to accomplish the power from your nap because if you continue sleeping again, you probably won’t wake up until hours later.
- Nap early so you won’t destroy your sleep at night. Yes, that’s right. Napping needs a schedule too. Let me tell you a secret. The best time to nap is between 2 and 3 pm every day as this is still in the mid-afternoon so there are still long hours between your nap and your night sleep. You should also try to nap at the same time each day to maximize the benefits.
- Creating an ideal napping zone is the last step. Close all of your curtains, find a quiet place, and snuggle in a cozy blanket, which can make your nap even better. All kinds of factors can destroy your beauty nap such as noise, light, and uncomfortable temperatures.
Benefits of a power nap
A power nap does a great job of de-stressing your mood for the day. If you are worried or sad about something and can’t seem to concentrate as your mind is like the morning fog, then it’s your sign to hop on bed and take a little nap. When you’re studying for a test but keeping to shove all of the information into your brain, it is so brutal that you need to take a break immediately.
The power nap can be your brain’s break as it helps to improve memory so you can memorize better. And finally, your health should always be your top priority. Remember, whatever you’re doing, if it starts affecting your health, don’t hesitate to take a rest. A small break won’t hurt anything!
As a takeaway from this little guide to power nap, it is a great option to quickly recharge your energy for the day and continue to be productive. However, if you are extremely deprived of sleep, a power nap won’t be enough for that, unfortunately. But if this ever happens to you, which many of us do, then take my advice, hop on bed and get some sleep in!
