When looking for a local breakfast spot to try out, I was delighted to discover Amarith Farmhouse Cafe. Located in a little plaza along Brookhurst Street, this joint has a wide selection of baked goods, brunch items and beverages, making it easy to find something to love.

Sunrise Special

For a delicious and filling way to start the day, the Sunrise Special was a great choice. The plate contained two eggs, country potatoes, your choice of protein and a piece of toast; it’s a classic meal that never fails to brighten your morning. The scrambled eggs were a golden goodness, the bacon a crispy treat and the potatoes an absolute wonder. When paired with the side of the berry sauce they gave me, it elevated the plate into something heavenly.

Lemon Ricotta Pancakes

On the sweeter end were the lemon ricotta pancakes. The buttermilk pancakes were delightfully fluffy, but it was the lemon and berry flavor on top of it that pulled the dish together. The sprinkle of powdered sugar and whipped butter on top added an extra touch of sweetness that I really enjoyed. After I ate most of the berries and lemon sauce, eating the rest of the pancakes did feel almost like a chore towards the end. Overall though, it was a nice dish that was perfect for my sweet tooth.

Country Fried Steak

The Country Fried Steak was easily the best dish I tried there. With a fried sirloin steak covered in gravy, two eggs, country potatoes, some kale and zucchini; everything on there was amazing. The steak was cooked to perfection, and was made even better with the addition of the gravy. The vegetables added a nice bit of variety, balancing the heavier parts of the dish. While I didn’t think much of it when ordering, I was pleasantly surprised to find it my favorite of the three dishes.

Conclusion

Given the good food and welcoming atmosphere, it’s easy to see why most people are charmed during their first visit. Amarith Farmhouse Cafe is a place I would love to return to for a nice, slow morning.
