“Now open up your book to page 38.”
Depending on the classes you’re taking, your textbook might be one of your most used items throughout the day. It may be for classwork, homework or even self study. The biggest difference between students is whether you use the online or physical version.
Let’s hear which version most students prefer and why!

HAYLEE PHAM

“I personally prefer online textbooks because … with the new technology and many teachers not using [physical] textbooks in class, there’s no need for it,” senior Haylee Pham said. “It’s also a hassle to keep it, and in case we lose it, we have to pay extra for something that we are not even going to use in class. So personally, I prefer digital [textbooks.]”
CALISTA NGUYEN

“I prefer digital textbooks. I like it more because my textbooks are really heavy and [I have to] bring them back to school at the end of the year,” sophomore Calista Nguyen said. “[Carrying the textbooks] to school is also really difficult for me.”
THOMAS NGUYEN

“I like using digital textbooks because I’m able to search and find out which chapter [something is in] easily,” senior Thomas Nguyen said.
DYLAN TRAN

“Personally, I prefer having a digital copy because no one really ever uses the physical copy. It’s just kind of there in your closet, just dusting away until you have to bring it back [at] the end of the year,” senior Dylan Tran said. “You could also read it on the go. You don’t have to carry this twenty pound, big physical book around. So, personally, I prefer digital.”
HA-VY NGUYEN

“I’ve been preferring to use digital textbooks because I kind of have beef with physical ones. I’ve had trouble holding them around,” sophomore Ha-Vy Nguyen said. “When it’s digital, it’s way easier to find specific text you’re looking for. I am not a fan of hard copy books.”
NGUYEN VO

“I prefer physical textbooks because it’s [like] the knowledge is there,” senior Nguyen Vo said. “I feel more focused because I’m not distracted by other things on the digital device.”
RENATA MURO ARMENTA

“I prefer using physical textbooks more because I think it’s easier to find the information,” sophomore Renata Muro Armenta said.
HAN PHAM

“I prefer digital textbooks more because I think they’re more convenient and you can use your phone for it,” senior Han Pham said.
