Sneakerinas—the mashup of ballerina flats and sneakers.

The fashion trend started with popular shoe brands launching their ballet-inspired sneakers such as the Puma Speedcat, Adidas Taekwondo Mei Ballet and Onitsuka Tiger 66 Ballet Flats. The most successful launch was probably Vivaia’s Cristina Lace-Up Satin Sneakerinas, which were worn by American model Bella Hadid at Paris Fashion Week in 2025.

WHAT ARE SNEAKERINAS?

In comparison to regular sneakers, sneakerinas offer a softer cushioned insole for comfort and are easier to put on. Their design is also more lightweight and less bulky, making it more style-able for elegant and delicate outfits. And compared to ballerina flats, they are more casual and offer more foot support for all day wear.

To go deeper into the shoe’s analysis, sneakerinas combine the outer rubber sole of a sneaker with the soft fabrics of a ballerina flat like satin or lambskin for the upper. Some even come with ribbon ankle lacing to complete the look. Together, sneakerinas give a pillow-like feeling when wearing them, especially when walking to places that are not in proximity.

HOW TO STYLE

Knowing how to mix and match with sneakerinas is a key to success in that “outfit of the day.” You can’t just randomly wear these unique hybrid shoes with any outfit and expect to get compliments from others when stepping down on the street. So here’s the secret: keep the rest of the outfit simple and let the sneakerinas be the center of attention. You can wear them with a plain white, flowy maxi dress or a pair of denim jeans with a basic top to really emphasize the elegant sleek silhouette of the shoes. All you have to remember is to maintain that feminine yet sporty style and avoid anything too formal or bulky.

According to the Robb Report, sales of sneakers that have “ballerina” or “ballet” in their names increased by more than one thousand percent between February and March of this year. This shows that the trend is carried by many customers in the market as they are fascinated by this new style of fashion.

At the end of the day, the rise of sneakerinas becomes one of the most influential trends in 2025 fashion. And now with another niche option in your shoe wardrobe, your outfit can look even more functional and put together.
