Talan Quinteros

Outgoing, critical thinker and problem solver. Those are the words junior Talan Quinteros uses to describe himself. With his bright personality, he definitely isn’t wrong.

Quinteros joined Baron Banner because of his interest in writing. This passion started in middle school when he had a teacher who introduced him to different ways of writing and helped him improve his communication skills.

Baron Banner isn’t the only extracurricular Quinteros is in. This year, he is beginning his first year as part of Fountain Valley High School [FVHS]’s ASB.

“I decided to join ASB because I [felt] like I wasn’t really connected with [FVHS during] my first two years of high school,” Quinteros said. “I [thought it was] a really good opportunity to meet new people, and it [has] been really fun so far.”

Another passion of Quinteros is travel baseball, playing with a team separate from FVHS.  Although it isn’t part of the school in any way, he still loves the game, playing around five days a week. During the season, he plays against other teams in Orange County and occasionally out-of-state.

Inspirations come from anywhere and for Quinteros, it ranges from baseball players to athletes to gym influencers. Seeing them do what they love and achieve the same goals he has, is something that he looks up to.

“[They’re] people I want to be in the future– someone really strong, athletic, but also has good motives in life,” Quinteros said.

Inspired by different people, Quinteros is undaunted when encountering new challenges, which is the strongest part of his personality. On the other hand, one of the weaker parts is how he is always questioning himself.

“I think my ability to do [new] things has taken over a lot and even though I do still question myself, I’m still able to push through and complete [my goals],” Quinteros said.

One of Quintero’s future goals is to go to a four-year college, where he plans to major in cybersecurity. Until then, he is excited to do his first year in Baron Banner, where he looks forward to writing people’s stories.
