Travel. Hiking. Sightseeing. WIth her love for the outdoors, you’ll be sure to see sophomore Heidy Tran outside—as long as there aren’t bugs.
Tran decided to join Baron Banner to explore her interests and pursue her passion through the class. With her previous experience in a yearbook class she took during eighth grade, she came in knowing how to design and take photos.
“I just want to improve upon my skills [and by] being in Baron Banner, I’m able to expand on my skills and have people teach me,” said Tran.
Beyond her capabilities, Tran is able to find out about people’s backstories and what things make them who they are. It’s definitely one of the strongest parts of her personality and makes her stand out.
“No matter what their background is, what their personality is, I can find a way to connect with [anyone],” said Tran.
With her ability to connect with different types of people, she is now on board for a new and upcoming club on Fountain Valley High School’s campus, Mentoring Minds. The club’s goal is to tutor young children and help students feel more academically confident in themselves. Currently, she is the co-activities director.
With her mom by her side and her support, Tran looks up to her mom while pursuing her goals.
“I feel like my mom is always my biggest inspiration because she’s always pushing me towards my goals and [motivating] me to achieve them,” said Tran. “I always appreciate her being by my side and she does support me in whatever I choose to pursue.”
Although Tran doesn’t have a certain career path set in stone, she’s exploring all her possibilities.
Excited for her first year in Baron Banner, Tran looks forward to pursuing her passion in journalism while meeting new people on the way.
