Scholarship Website Reviews

Before the school year comes to an end and college begins, senior barons must on the lookout for scholarships to finance. Whether you’re a senior high school student or not, here are a few of the best scholarship websites to save you time from scouring the internet:

Fastweb.com

Fastweb is one of the most popular free sites.  It comes with a database of thousands of scholarships and awards. Registering is easy , so within minutes you have opportunities and offers sent to you. Unfortunately, these emails pile up, spamming your inbox with offers which may not necessarily fit your interests.   When you sign up for Fastweb, you fill out a standard profile with your interests, GPA, and background.  While this profile does try to represent you, it does not result in effective matches.  The college and scholarship offers presented to you after signing up are generally applicable to any sixteen to eighteen year old with a living pulse.  The lack of personalization on Fastweb is its downside.

Cappex.com
After creating your own personal profile, Cappex also matches you with colleges that fit your interests and personality. It will let you know your chances of being accepted to specific institutions, and scholarships are just one click-away. Although its database isn’t as large as Fastweb, it’s still free and narrows down your college search to make the selection process easier. Cappex does frequently send emails, but they are generally purposeful. Since earning a scholarship that completely fits you is not guaranteed, it’s more valuable to those who wants to find information about colleges and financial aid instead. Their “Chance” feature lets you know your chances of being accepted by schools you pick. Although students may find this option helpful,  they should realize that it is not at all accurate (schools will look at more than just your GPA and test scores!).

Scholarships.com

This site has a large scholarship database and does what it says on its website: “Find College Scholarships While Colleges Recruit You”. Although it claims to be the best, upon logging into your profile, you can expect to be stuffed with a wide array of scholarship offers and other irrelevant choices and opportunities. It’s a simple and basic website that doesn’t have too many unique features but does a solid job. It’s similar to Fastweb in the way that it offers their companies and sponsors to market their offers directly to you, so it can be email-heavy.
