Girls volleyball played Marina at their second to last home game of the season, winning 3-0, on Tuesday.
All 12 seniors on the varsity team were walked out with their families and recognized before the game as a part of the Senior Night festivities.
“Senior night was very special for me and for all of the seniors because it showed how much support and love we have from everyone at FVHS,” varsity player Liz Byrnes (’15) said.
The Lady Barons started the night off strong with consistent passing and good communication on the court. Byrnes played solid offense and assisted many hits. Ashley Rogers scored the Barons several points with her clean kills, as well as covering blocks.
“I’m glad that we were able to get a win after a being in a slump for a little while,” varsity player Zara Platt (’15) said. “The level of play was definitely much higher than previous games, and hopefully we can keep up the intensity and get a few more wins.”
The girls have high hopes for the rest of the season and keep a positive outlook despite their losses in the first half of their season.
“Our match against Marina showed how much we’ve improved over the past couple weeks. Our communication and focus on the court has gotten a lot better,” said Byrnes. “If we keep improving like this, I’m sure that we’ll add a couple more wins under our belt and hopefully make it to playoffs again this year.”
