With an array of testing methods here at Fountain Valley High School, almost every student varies on what they believe best corresponds with their test-taking strategies. Many students continue to prefer original paper tests, while others now gravitate to newer technology-based tests.
“I prefer chromebook tests ‘cause they’re usually easier and um sometimes you can get your score right away, so it’s pretty cool,” said sophomore Ben Nguyen. Photo by Elyssa Phan. 
“I prefer chromebooks better because it’s much more easier and much more faster to do on the chromebooks rather than the paper tests because sometimes you don’t have pencils or erasers or the materials for a paper test. But on the chromebooks, all you need is just a mouse to click on the answers and that’s all,” said freshman Breanna Huynh. Photo by Elyssa Phan. 
“I prefer taking paper tests because with chromebooks, you have a higher chance of getting the question wrong, and you won’t be able to get like half credit. Also, with the paper tests you’ll be able to look over your answers and erase anything… The chromebooks make me feel a lot more pressured because once you know you got that answer wrong you can’t go back and change it or you can’t receive the full credit,” said senior Ada Nguyen. “I prefer paper tests over chromebooks because it’s more professional and it’s, to me, I think there’s a lower chance of cheating than on chromebooks,” said freshman Daphnie Nguyen. Photo by Elyssa Phan. 
“So personally I kind of prefer paper tests because I’m more used to it, you know because we’ve been doing paper tests since elementary, kindergarten… And chromebook tests, I think it’s a really good idea (it saves a lot of paper) but sometimes it could be very demoralizing for me, ‘cause I’m really used to writing in pencil most of the time. “I prefer taking a paper test because it’s less stressful. There’s no timer. Even though we do have like a time sequence, but I’d rather not see it pop up in my face when it gives me like a last-five-minute warning or something because that results in me panicking and just rushing the end of the test instead of trying to finish it with a good answer,” said junior Mai-Anh Do.
