Britney Tran: Managing Editor

Britney Tran

If you were to ask managing editor senior Britney Tran four years ago if she would like to join Baron Banner, she probably would have said no. Tran had no interest in writing, but looking to be part of a high school community, she put herself out there and joined anyway.

“I joined Baron Banner because I saw it at an eighth grade orientation and I always wanted to be a part of a high school community,” Tran said. “I thought it was a good way to put myself out there, and I also intended to be a designer so it kind of put me out of my comfort zone since I didn’t like writing under pressure and hated writing essays.”

Now approaching the end of her high school career, Tran has grown a connection with writing. Baron Banner has given Tran an outlet, skills and people that she will value past her high school career.

“The class has really helped to organize my thoughts and boost my productivity. Growing close to [the Baron News advisor Sean] Ziebarth and other members of the staff have been one of the most valuable assets to my high school career and I plan to carry all that I have learned from journalism to the outside world” she said.

Started by searching for a community, Tran is now fostering one of her own. Tran continues to try new things and has started a new club, Webooks, which aims to “create reading opportunities for disabled.”

Outside of school, Tran curates playlists so that she has one for her every mood and over quarantine Tran has picked up painting.

Tran admires her parents for being successful business owners and pushes herself to succeed because of them.

“I would say I admire my parents because they’re successful business owners. So I think the pressure of success after them really pushes me,” she said.

With her limitless curiosity and persistence, Tran is ready to tackle any challenge she encounters.
