Write, sleep and repeat. You can describe the routine of the budding author, senior Priscilla Le, just like that.

Whether it is writing poems, short stories, or romance novels, Le does it all. Describing herself as “a jack of all trades,” Le enjoys studying various topics, from criminal law and surgery to literature.

Fascinated by the double meaning of idioms, she is working on a series of poems incorporating both the literal and figurative factors of these phrases. Her biggest inspiration is the famous author Edgar Allen Poe.

“I think it’s so cool to be able to do rhyme schemes because it makes the writing so much more cohesive and brilliant,” Le said. “I really love using syllables or different break ups. I love being creative with my writing.”

Aside from composing for Baron Banner, Le often writes outside of school for her own enjoyment. She is currently working on a romance-mystery novel, “Abigail’s Chorus,” which revolves around a high school junior on a journey of self-exploration. As her curiosity drives her to dig into her past, the girl faces a realization and is confused about what to do with this newfound information.

Le often gets inspiration from random things in her daily life—whether it is a video on Reddit or a bird her dad brought home, she expertly churns out writing to keep her creative outlet flowing.

“I think the beauty with fiction is that you can turn anything into fiction with whatever experience you have,” Le said. “And the fact that you can add so much symbolism creates so many creative outlets for writers.”

It’s no wonder that Le joined Baron Banner for her love of writing. As she takes on AP English classes to improve her writing skills, she also focuses on criminal and business law courses to prepare for her future career as a lawyer.

Her passion for law has been blossoming ever since she was in elementary school.

“I don’t know how I got into it at first, but in elementary [school], I was just like, ‘Man, law is so cool!’ And once I started taking criminal law in sophomore year, I realized that I loved every aspect of it,” Le said.

Understanding how laws work and discovering ways she can help people seek justice is the main drive for Le to keep embarking on her journey.

Le strongly believes that there are ways that school authorities can better improve themselves to better support students. In her year with Baron Banner, she aims to use the power of the press to represent the students in ways she hasn’t seen before.

“I want to leave a legacy where you don’t have to conform, and sometimes you can speak out when something is not what it should be or if it’s not helpful,” Le said.
