For the past five minutes, you’ve been staring at your computer screen, reading the same series of characters over and over again. Your cursor hovers tantalizingly over the glowing blue “send” button, but you have yet to click it–something doesn’t seem right.
Whether it be emailing a teacher, counselor or a coach, there are numerous emails you have to send as a student. However, sending an email is no easy task; you don’t want to come off the wrong way, and it can be hard to express yourself clearly through a screen. Here are some ideas for send-offs for your emails to ensure you present yourself and your email the way you want.
Thank you for your time
This send-off is a classic, but for good reason. It sets a respectful, formal tone that is perfect for emailing teachers or counselors to ask a question, or any other scenario; it’s hard to go wrong with this one.
Thank you for your consideration
Similar to the previous send-off, this is also a fairly common way to set a respectful tone when ending an email. This send-off is better suited when asking for something, such as an extension on an assignment, rather than just asking a question.
Apologies for the inconvenience
We all make mistakes, but that doesn’t make sending the email explaining that mistake any easier. This send-off might help with that, as its formal tone expresses respect and remorse, perfect for an apology email.
Best regards
Another formal send-off, this one is flexible in maintaining a sense of respect and friendliness. It’s suitable for any scenario, from emailing teachers to employers.
Take care
This send-off takes a more friendly tone, making it fitting for less formal emails addressed to a peer. It’s a good balance to not appear overly formal while also not coming off as disrespectful.
Emails can be tricky to write, but hopefully this list of send-offs will make hitting that blue “send” button easier.
