Myra Chen, the hard-working, well-spoken senior delves into her independence and practicality while her creativity stays managed in each and every aspect of her life. Through her previous works on Baron Banner, which include “Mouth breathing, an epidemic” to “The future of sticky iPad kids,” her humor is unmatched and fails to go unnoticed. Chen is also the lifestyle editor for Baron Banner, she is competent with a reliable work ethic.
Describing herself as athletic, the soon-to-be West Point freshman Chen joined Baron Banner as a junior for two main reasons: all her friends were joining and she wanted a zero period.
“Before this year [school started] like really late and I wanted to beat the traffic. But writing, I guess I’ve always been into creative writing …” Chen said.
Though Chen does not see a future career in writing, she’s always enjoyed delving into silly topics and plans to continue the art form as a hobby. However, the future for Chen goes well beyond writing humorous articles in her ambition towards a national relations and business career.
“I do like writing, but I also like math and science. I feel like national relations could encompass all of that. I wanna pay very little taxes, maybe go into real estate … be good with my money ’cause—I’m not good with my money,” Chen said.
Aside from her hobby of creative writing, Chen enjoys painting. Furthermore, she is a part of the organization Dynamite Book Club (DBC). Members of DBC paint small and free libraries for local neighborhoods. Nevertheless, Chen’s favorite hobby is one quite relatable.
“In my free time, I’m going to sleep. I sleep like 12 hours,” Chen said.
Her dedication to her future, along with the countless admirable attributes Chen displays explains why her role model is nobody but herself.
With the competence and creativity this young writer portrays, it is without a doubt she is an astounding and inspirational member of Baron Banner.
