Between running a student-run newspaper, marching band, color guard and managing her part-time job, senior Arielle Nguyen barely has time to breathe. Somehow, she makes it all look effortless, keeping it together with impressive time management skills and little room for procrastination.

Nguyen’s Baron Banner journey first started after stumbling across a school paper in her English class sophomore year.

Already an avid writer since third grade, she thought the class would be the perfect place to put her words to good use. Originally, Nguyen wanted to balance both photography and writing, but somewhere along the way, she realized her love for storytelling outweighed her love for snapping photos. She still takes photos now and then, but when it comes to writing, she’s all in.

Her daily routine is a careful balance: Baron Banner in the morning; school and color guard in the afternoon; and her part-time job and homework wherever it fits. That being said, she admits the hardest part is just getting out of bed for zero period.

At the end of the day, what drives her is simple: her love for the people she works with and the community she’s built in each of her activities. Whether it’s her teammates in color guard or her staff in the newsroom, Nguyen believes that those connections are what keep her motivated, even when things get stressful.

“…I really like the people,” Nguyen said, “I feel like that’s what makes me keep phishing myself to maintain the class and keep rolling along.”

With a passion in Psychology, Nguyen has plans to venture far away and spend her time helping others – specifically the elderly and young children –whom she holds a spot in her heart for.

“I absolutely love kids and I love helping,” Nguyen said.

For Nguyen, her constant workload and life goals remind her to take a step back and let the world move at its own pace.

“Staying locked in is a little difficult, some days you just need to go back to sleep,” Nguyen said.
