Timothy Roe

Standing before his last year of high school, Timothy Roe, senior at Fountain Valley High School, strikes students with his meticulous writing skills. Although he simply aims to get through another school year, Roe decided to take on the challenges of zero period Baron Banner in order to put his skills to use.

While Roe proves to be calm and collected, this does not by any means stop him from being quite the social butterfly. In fact, his personality along with his outgoing spirit makes it easy for him to get along with his peers. From small talk to deep discussions, Roe leads conversations with ease.

In the past, Roe did not see himself joining Baron Banner. Even now, he acknowledges how difficult the class truly is.

“Well, it’s just mainly doing the work, getting on it. Because I think there isn’t too much homework but there’s a lot of work that you’ve gotta get done in class so you have to stay very focused.”

Along with Baron Banner, Roe also has hobbies that pile into his busy lifestyle. When he’s not preoccupied with hours of homework, he likes to spend his time listening to music or fitting in a workout. But if it’s not cardio or weightlifting, you may catch Roe working on his creative writing.

Creative writing is also a path Roe plans to take in the near future. Although he’s not sure of what he wants to do in terms of a career, he takes an interest in both creative writing and East Asian art.

“You see, ever since I was young I’ve always liked those kinds of arts. They’re very interesting,” said Roe. “The kinds of arts and literature I’m interested in would be Japanese/Korean/Chinese landscape paintings and Chinese literature like Journey to the West and Romance of the Three Kingdoms.”

In the future, Roe hopes to attend UCI or Chapman in order to pursue these interests.

“I haven’t one hundred percent decided but I’d like to do something creative with my life. Probably creative writing. And [UCI and Chapman] also have good language programs, so I’ve heard,” said Roe.
