From Tae Kwon Do to her 4.0 GPA, Fountain Valley High School junior Ansharah Asif will definitely strike you with her academic persistence and well-rounded interests. Even while focusing on her academic pursuits, Asif loves to take on challenges like joining Baron Banner to explore her passion for Journalism.
Following the midpoint of high school, she’s preparing to focus all of her energy towards academic matters by pulling her efforts together and putting out her best.
”Because it’s junior year, I’m choosing to focus on grades and a [higher] GPA. [Nevertheless,] my biggest concern for both social and academic [affairs] is Covid-19 because I know a lot of people that aren’t social distancing or taking the situation seriously which makes the [stay-at-home] situation difficult,” Asif said.
If she’s not completing assignments for her classes, you can catch her bouncing a basketball on the court. Asif tends to spend her days playing basketball with friends, practicing guitar, and surfing. As a black belt in Tae Kwon Do you can say she’s quite the kicker in her talents. Recently, she’s taken an interest in sewing, allowing her to cook up a few pieces for her collection.
“My biggest motivation [has] been my parents as they have created an amazing life for me and for themselves with such little help and years worth of hard work,” Asif said.
As a hardworking student, Asif explores her interest in a wide range of activities, but her current aspiration is to pursue a career in the medical field as a pre-dental student.
“For a while, I wanted to be a lawyer, author, detective, and now a dentist… for dentistry, I have been taking science classes and ROP classes to experience what it would actually feel like to work as a dentist,” Asif said.
However, she is keeping her options open to explore other different areas.
“I hope to prepare myself for the future and whatever that may be. Whether I am looking towards becoming a doctor and preparing for the MCAT or a dentist preparing for the DAT or even a lawyer preparing for the Bar exam… I am still experimenting and seeing through which classes I enjoy taking to see if I would be interested, maybe studying further down the future, ” Asif said.
