From photography to classical piano, Catherine Vu loves all things creative. After recently transferring to Fountain Valley High School from a completely different setting, Vu quickly felt at home with Baron Banner.
“I was feeling very lost. I had all these plans for the perfect high school experience and once they were all turned upside down, I didn’t know what to do. I found familiarity in…photography and even writing,” Vu said.
When meeting Vu, you might be caught off guard by her quiet personality and introversion, but whenever you need someone to cheer you up she’ll be right by your side.
Vu loves to explore different creative outlets from drawing to photography. As a brown belt in Aikido, Vu is able to show her versatility and strength in different areas.
“You can just create something out of your life and you can experiment with many different styles and different versions of reality,” Vu said.
Even though Vu loves the arts, she has been diving into Advanced Placement science classes to explore her interest in the STEM field.
In the past few months spent at home, Vu has discovered many new creative activities to fill up her day.
“I put more time into art and music! I’ve recently picked up jazz and it’s been a different but very cool experience,” Vu said.
As an ice cream flavor, Vu would love to be Mint Chocolate Chip because it has interesting components.
“[The mint is] like really fresh but then there’s also the familiar chocolate,” Vu said. “It’s like I seem different on the outside but then once you get to know me I open up.”
