“Red hair” is how junior Justin Nguyen would describe himself, but beneath his brightly colored hair is a photographer in search of his next perfect shot.
Introduced to Baron Banner by photo manager Kailyn Huynh, Nguyen, already a part of the school’s yearbook, was looking for another opportunity to perfect his craft as a photographer.
“I just love to get pictures, and I wanted another opportunity,” Nguyen said.
Photography has always been something that has sparked Nguyen’s interest, as his dad used to be a photographer. This art has always been in the back of his mind since he was a young kid.
One year at a badminton game, an alumni brought a camera to the game and Nguyen tried it out. This motivated him to save up for his own camera.
“I tried it out, I just fell in love with it and I just never looked back,” Nguyen said.
Although his first chance to take pictures was at a sporting event, he has grown to fall in love with street photography because it captures a snapshot of chaotic everyday life.
“It’s [because of] the unpredictable nature — how it can capture those small intimate everyday moments and how it captures real human behavior,” Nguyen said.
Nguyen hopes to achieve a good balance between his love of photography and schoolwork. He’s in a plethora of AP classes, including AP Biology and AP United States History.
He is working on finding the balance between everything in his life, but he believes that once he gets on that track, everything will be smooth sailing.
Baron Banner is just another way Nguyen wants to hone his craft as a photographer, and he aims for the stars — all by taking a couple of pictures.
