On some nights, she’s curled up watching Netflix. On other nights, she’s staring at the stars searching for inspiration. Whether it is helping homeless children or dancing to Taylor Swift, junior Stephanie Pham brings a bright smile that can uplift anyone’s day.
Pham came into Baron Banner with a conviction, to spread awareness around school and to find new things about the world. Her love for reading and favorite Netflix shows like “the Originals” and “Lucifer” fueled her passion to create work of her own that sealed the deal in joining Baron Banner.
“My hopes are to learn more about journalism and actually writing about the news,” Pham said. “I’ve always been interested in reading and writing so I thought it would be fun.”
Baron Banner is not the only activity Pham is a part of. Oftentimes, you can catch her volunteering with her friends at the Colette’s Children’s Home, a charity that helps homeless women and children. Throughout this year, she intends on learning more about herself and participating in different events around campus through the upcoming club rush.
“I want to accomplish meeting new people and spreading my thoughts,” Pham said. “I didn’t really get to get involved in as many clubs as I wanted to since the pandemic and I want to spend more time with my friends outside of school.”
Even through the turbulent years of high school, Pham’s easy-going nature serves as a steady pillar for her friends to rely on whenever they need a pick-up. She cracks sarcastic jokes and is always down to head out to the bowling alley and eat Korean barbecue.
Pham’s love for interacting with people has led her to enjoy learning about different cultures. During the past summer, Pham and her family traveled to Vietnam where she revered the Halong Bay’s beauty and spent time in its emerald-blue waters.
If you are lucky enough to meet her, you will find Pham living in the present. While she prefers to dress comfort over function, you will find a friendly and spirited pioneer who leaves in her path, a kindled enthusiasm in people.
“I’m waiting to see what comes at me and inspires me. I want to learn to get outside of my comfort zone and learn how to share my thoughts more,” Pham said. “I also want to go with the flow and have a fun time.”
