California is developing its first ever Southeast Asian curriculum, set to be done by September 2025. Through extensive outreach to the Asian community for feedback, the model curriculum is on track be a collaborative and extensive push towards adequate Southeast Asian historical representation.
The new honors course will now serve as the advanced and weighted alternative to Algebra 2 starting in the 2023-2024 school year.
During this summer, FVHS will be building its new wellness center, ‘Le Sanctuaire.’ As a part of a county-wide initiative to promote better mental health for teenagers, ‘Le Sanctuaire’ will be a safe space for students to visit and practice mindfulness.
Both traditional and block bell schedules will be considered as options for next school year.
The district may integrate more online resources into courses in the future.
The Board of Trustees unanimously approved the withdrawal which will be effective June 30, 2023.
Fountain Valley High School is composed of a predominant Asian majority with many of those students being Vietnamese, yet, the language isn’t offered as a course even though many students can benefit from it.
Over the last year and a half, the teachers’ union and HBUHSD have gone through several attempts to agree on a new contract for the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 school years. With the release of their first tentative agreement on Nov. 3, the process to this contract has had many steps.
