On Tuesday, Jan. 27, Fountain Valley High School (FVHS) Girls’ Basketball played against the Huntington Beach High School (HBHS) Oilers for their senior night. 5 seniors were recognized including Sophie Hsieh, Kaylin Huynh, Avery Jones, Kailey Nishi, Kaylana Sitanggan, and Helen William. The Barons fought hard, but unfortunately lost to the Oilers 47-60.
On Jan. 20, 2025, Fountain Valley High School (FVHS) Girls’ Basketball (3–3 league, 12–10 overall) battled against the Corona Del Mar (CDM) Sea Kings in an intense matchup that pushed both teams to their limits. In the end, the Barons fought hard for a 47–42 overtime victory on their home court.
On Thursday, Jan. 8, Fountain Valley High School girls’ varsity basketball team earned a strong win against Newport Harbor, finishing the game with a 59–46 victory.
Fountain Valley secured their first second round playoff appearance since 2019 by defeating Bishop Alemany 48-46 in the Division 2A opening round.
The Barons held the Sea Queens scoreless from the field in the third quarter, igniting a nine-point run that helped secure a 44-30 win on Thursday.
Victoria Om’s 17 points and offensive playmaking led the Barons’ 58-45 victory, while Kailey Nishi set a record 54 three-pointers in a season.
Nishi scored nine three-pointers in the Barons’ 67-42 win, breaking the previous record of eight three-pointers held by her sister Melody Nishi.
The Barons held onto a fourth quarter lead to secure a 49-42 win on Senior Night, marking their first win against Sunset Surf League competition.
Karley Waite scored a layup with 5 seconds remaining in the game to seal the 59-58 win for the Barons.
