Under the “California Universal Meals” policy, the Fountain Valley High School (FVHS) Cafeteria provides one free breakfast and lunch meal for all students. Due to this, the cafeteria has a variety of options students can choose from when it comes to breakfast and lunch. This includes tacos, pasta, sandwiches, yogurt parfaits and chicken nuggets just to name a few.
Let’s see which items on the lunch menu are Barons’ favorites.

“[My favorite item on the lunch menu] is the ham sandwich because it’s healthy,” senior Mark Nakhella said. “[The tacos] are very flavorful and they’re not dry. [Also], string cheese [for breakfast] is good in theory and all, but I don’t eat it. I just don’t want string cheese in the morning,” sophomore Kaitlyn Henderson said.“I really like the buffalo wings and I like the real chicken they give, usually on Mondays with the mashed potatoes. Not the tenders, though, the real chicken like where they give, like, a whole chicken thigh and rest. I really like that turkey. And I also really like their carrots. I really like string cheese and I think that should be an addition for lunch. I like the string cheese because it’s really yummy and I can eat it in my fifth period too, because I can sit there and peel it. It’s not messy [and] really delicious. I [also] think [hot sauce] should be included [in lunch] because I’m here bringing this from home. I think Michelle Obama did not do enough for the students and their lunches. But I think with my help, I think we can do better. And you know, one time they gave out these tuna sandwiches, and they were so good. I think real chicken should be [available] every day instead of these chicken nuggets. I don’t think they’re real. And I think that string cheese should be [available] every day for lunch instead of just breakfast,” junior Phoebe Nguyen said.“I like the special pizzas because there’s usually peppers or some sort of veggies on there and cheese,” junior Jessica Ta said.“I like pasta. I feel like it has the most variety in it. I think [the cafeteria should serve pasta more often], especially because it runs out pretty quickly,” senior Demi Nguyen said.“The burger is just delicious and great. I love the burger. [I get the burger everyday] because it’s nutritious and delicious,” sophomore Angela Troung said.“[I like the cheese pizza because] it’s a staple. It’s just really good, five bars out of five,” senior Asif Sahib said.“I like the uncrustable because it has 18 grams of protein. I just like peanut butter,” senior Byron Nguyen said.“I love the cheeseburgers. They’re amazing [because] they’re simple,” junior Anna Clark said.
