Open since 1967, the Sugar Shack Cafe is run entirely by the family that owns it. Although it doesn’t seem like much based on its canopy, the crowded tables filled with customers pique curiosity. Stepping through its doors reveals the reasons behind its popularity.
The first thing visitors notice is the brilliant blues and greens jumping off from the wall. Paired with the nearby beach, it creates a relaxing atmosphere for an enjoyable meal. Both the indoor and outdoor settings allow for leisurely dining for a golden, unhurried day.

Katie – Breakfast Special
The Breakfast Special included two pancakes, a sausage patty, and a scrambled egg for $14.75. I had the choice between the sausage patty or two slices of bacon, as well as my choice in how the eggs were cooked. Everything on my plate tasted phenomenal. The pancakes were a fluffy delight, the sausage patty delicious and the egg cooked to perfection. The plate was loaded up with enough food to both fill me up and take me home.
Vivienne – Eggs Benedict
I ordered the eggs benedict for $17.50, which included poached eggs over ham on two English muffins and hashbrowns. With every bite, you taste exactly why egg benedicts have stood the test of time as a classic breakfast item. The hashed browns were a bit on the overdone side, but nothing else was out of place.
What stood out most in the Sugar Shack was its traditional coastal atmosphere, quintessential to the Huntington Beach area. The cafe is surrounded by beautiful beach imagery and two outdoor dining areas, perfect for the beginning or the end of your beach trip.
