The Barons’ football team suffered a tough 10-13 loss to Huntington Beach on Thursday night, which took place at the Huntington Beach High football stadium.
The game started off right for the Barons early in the 1st quarter when Jacob Church (’14) scored a field goal from the 36 yard mark in the 6th minute, making the score 3-0. The players and coaches started to believe in themselves, and knew that they had a chance to win this game.
With seven minutes left in the second quarter, Wyatt Christensen (’13) made a 7 yard touchdown for the Barons. Following the touchdown, Jacob Church (’14) scored another field goal, making the score 10-0.
In the third quarter, Huntington Beach came back and scored two field goals, putting the score at 10-6.
Exhausted and beaten, the Barons were just hoping that the game would be over. With only two minutes left, they were caught off guard when the Oilers managed to make a 66 yard touchdown.
Steele Escobedo (’13) mentioned after the game, “It’s such a shame that we didn’t win, we worked and trained way too hard for this game. I think that we just have to keep our heads up for the next game.”
Although, the Barons didn’t get the win this time, they have another chance to redeem themselves on Friday, October 12 at Huntington Beach vs Newport Harbor.
