On Saturday February 15 and February 16, FVHS wrestling placed 6th out of 30 schools at Oak Hills High School for CIF.
Five Baron wrestlers qualified for the masters next weekend.
Steele Escobedo (’13) won another CIF title. Andrew Morgan (’15) placed third. Bryant Vazquez (’14), Josh Madrid (’13), and Nathan Bazan (’13) all placed fourth.
“Placing at CIF was amazing. I never thought I would make it that far. I just thought that because it’s my senior year that I better go all out,” said Nathan Bazan. “Masters was hard. Everyone was elite and in it to win. I wrestled hard but lost. I have no regrets because I accomplish everything I wanted to.”
“It feels good to win another CIF title but I’m not finished yet,” said Escobedo (’13). “But I’m confident I’ll do well.”
Good luck to our boys who qualified for masters at Temecula next weekend on February 22 and February 23.
The varsity wrestling team did not attend last weekend’s CIF tournament at Los Alamitos because Coach Woodbury was afraid of the boys sustaining injuries right before their individual matches for CIF.
