“Guardians of the Galaxy” is an action-packed sci-fi comedy from Marvel . The movie is centered around a group of misfit outlaws featuring Peter Quill, a human, Rocket, a genetically modified raccoon, Groot, a humanoid tree, Gamora an assassin, and Drax, a man fueled entirely by rage. These unlikely allies unite to defeat Ronan, a radical who is out to destroy the planet Xandar and its inhabitants.
Students thought “Guardians” was a fun movie, but also taught an important lesson.
“The movie was great; it was a light-hearted movie that was full of action and comedy. The developing friendships and the growth of the characters created a film that was not only enjoyable, but had a great message as well,” said Bryan Le (‘15).
Others appreciated the comedic and cinematic components of the movie.
“I thought it was hilarious. The graphics are great and it was well directed. I didn’t know there were pretty blunt jokes, but I liked the relationship between the characters,” said Michelle Lee (’16).
However, some students thought the comedy was juvenile and didn’t contribute to the story.
Danny Jackson(15′) said, “[It was a] waste of my time…Who fights the overall bad guy with a dance party and then hides in a bush?”
Overall, the movie suited viewers looking for a laugh, but let others down.
