As autumn’s chill settles in, so does the craving for something warm and familiar. With a growing selection of pumpkin-themed treats at our fingertips, a new contender has entered the seasonal latte game — Atrà Cafe. The new cafe recently opened up in Fountain Valley on Talbert and Brookhurst. Its minimalist charm and cozy, plant-filled interior make Atrà a strong go-to spot for studying or for those in need of a caffeine fix.

Stepping into Atrà Cafe feels like slipping into a warm sweater. The space is adorned with natural wood finishes, soft lighting and an abundance of greenery, making it a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle.

When my pumpkin spice Vietnamese coffee arrived, I immediately noticed the care in the presentation. Served in a tall plastic cup, it highlighted the aesthetic, topped with a thick layer of frothy milk dusted with a delicate sprinkle of cinnamon. The drink’s orange-brown color was appealing, hinting at the rich flavors I was about to experience.

Unlike overly sweet versions of this drink found elsewhere, Atrà’s struck a balance. The coffee’s boldness came through nicely, giving a strong base that played well against the spices. The pumpkin flavor was there, subtle but discernible, complemented by a hint of cinnamon.

One of the standout aspects of the drinks was how Atrà managed sweetness, instead of an overpowering sugary syrup, the sweetness was more understated.

Atrà Cafe’s pumpkin spice Vietnamese coffee, a featured seasonal drink, was a welcome addition to the fall drink lineup. Pairing with a crisp morning, a cozy turtleneck sweater, and maybe a good box, this coffee is for those who appreciate the subtleties of coffee and who don’t believe Cookie Crumble Frappuccinos are real coffees.
