Clash Royale is a popular mobile game that students know and love. If you are unfamiliar with it, Clash Royale is a game in which you go against opponents and strategize against each other with characters in order to destroy another person’s tower. The game resurfaced in popularity in the past year due to streamers and pro players showing their gameplay to the world. And as of now, it has reached our community, and schools such as Edison High School (EHS) have decided to hop on the trend.

As of Sept. 5, EHS announced that they will be hosting a Clash Royale tournament against Fountain Valley High School (FVHS). On the same day, EHS released a post saying in five days time, the tournament would begin, with a link in the caption for people to sign up via Google Form.

“The idea was founded through TikTok and its overall popularity at the moment,” Hayden Cato, an executive member of EHS’ ASB, said.

The tournament had about 104 participants, but none of them were FVHS students, as EHS’ advertisement reached many students of their own, but couldn’t reach Fountain Valley.

“One thing we didn’t do good on was making sure everyone knew when the tournament was happening,” Jayden Simbulan, an EHS ASB member, said.

Additionally, “There was no one from FV, it was just a way to get students engaged and involved,” Simbulan said.

From this info it’s clear that FV was only added to lure more students into participating in the event, hence the reason why none of the 104 students who participated were from FV, and why FV’s ASB never mentioned or posted about it.

“In the future we are willing to team up with FV ASB to host events in order to get more exposure and get more students engaged with these activities,” Simbulan said.

Although students at FVHS weren’t informed by FVHS’ ASB that this was happening, the post EHS put out on Instagram had reached the FVHS audience and had people talking about it around campus. EHS had hosted the tournament with a bracket system in their gym during Bell Week, and is planning to host the finale during one of their assemblies.
