Senior Breeanna Wilson has recently started her own clothing line to help her community by giving back to those in need.
Wilson and her partner Tyler Vasquez, a senior at Edison High School, started their company, Vizion, in late December of 2012 after separating from a previous line, Function.
Many of Wilson’s friends, knowing she has long held an interest in the arts, weren’t surprised to hear that she had started her own clothing line. Wilson had intended on attending an art school for college but found that graphic design was much more practical than drawing.
Her new found interest in design sparked a desire to explore the field of fashion.
Wilson and Vasquez decided to donate most of their profits to people in need. Recently they gave to single parents who needed financial aid to get back on their feet. They plan to keep on giving to children’s hospitals, special education programs and as many other people that they can reach out to.
Wilson and Vasquez do not intend to use the money they make to buy clothes and other goods for themselves. Vizion is currently donating roughly ten to twenty percent of their profits to charity and using the rest of it to create new products to sell. As the company grows, they hope to be able to donate fifty percent of their profits. What little profit they may end up keeping will be put away for college savings.
Vizion stands for not only their creative vision for a fashion line but also for their worldly vision of a better community through helping others.
“We’re very determined to become successful, and to us that means being able to volunteer and help people as much as we can through our company,” Wilson said. “Vizion isn’t just about our clothing line vision but for our vision to help change the world.”
