The varsity football team came head to head with Trabuco Hills in a tug-of-war game, which led to an unfortunate loss Friday night. Barons proved unable to beat Trabuco’s defense in the final quarter and lost the game 17-24.
With the first quarter starting off uncertainly, Barons held a score of 3-7 against Trabuco. Though with the losing score, the Barons held on and managed to bring the score to a 10-17, coming in close by halftime.
Playing a strong defense for the third quarter, the Barons kept Trabuco at bay. The boys managed to tie the score in the third quarter 17-17 with a touchdown that sent the crowd roaring.
But towards the middle of the fourth quarter, Trabuco pulled ahead. Baron’s played a solid defense to keep the score of 17-24 from getting any higher.
With two minutes left in the game, the Barons were awarded ball possession and the chance to pull through for a final chance to raise the score. Barons tried to come up with the winning score, but Trabuco played a hard defense, and the Barons were left unable to plow through their solid line up.
“Although we didn’t pull out a win, I really think it brought us closer as a team,” said Calvin Wann (’14). “And in the future, will make us a more resilient force.”
The next home game will take place at Huntington Beach High School, next Thursday at 7 p.m. against Banning High School.
